We’re Computerizing and We Just Don’t Need You Anymore

pip-computorized

This has been totally fun for me – I love a playlist I have to work at – and I completely understand how it doesn’t connect for others .. I hope there’s some tracks to entertain in here.

There’s more bleep freak tunes than I’d normal put on the’spill (I haven’t gone overboard – I could have just swapped the playlist with tracks made using 8-bit sounds really annoying the hell out of people who like traditional instruments)…
I’ve included a good smattering of different genres to even it out, not too sure about the musicians colours, as I don’t have a Pantone chart set up for the artist skin tones.
Most tracks are bang on – internet themed – others are subtle – but I believe the lines about the internet are pertinent and important to my feelings for the song.
There’s not a single track that I think are ‘not up to scratch’ with my normal nominating (personal) taste. In fact, tracks 22-61 are all sadly left out because I do try not to bore everyone on here.

I hope there is something to entertain and it’s not a whole: abort – retry – fail.

    • I didn’t know how to use it because (I’m a designer not a techno geezer) but I noticed you had put a how to in panthers’ post – so thought I’d give it a whirl.

Not too sure how user friendly it is for shoey though… has he said yet?

better go and nominate all these on RR – just incase you pick something I haven’t talked about yet !

      • Take your time, you still have a day. I know they’re here, but some others may want to hear them that don’t stop by the Spill.

Shoey said it only shows the first song on the iPhone, but I’m wondering if the top bar above the list – you should be able to click on that arrow and play the whole list, but i don’t know if that shows up on the iPhone.

      • Tracks are showing up fine on this one – it’s still not very pleasing to the eye.

Big drawback for me is no airplay – so I can’t zap the tunes from the phone through the TV for a listen & will have to rummage around for some headphones, which the girls have probably borrowed.

        Huge donds for Mungo, anyway.

  1. Clint, Mungo, Hadouken! Saul W, Joan of Arc, Renard (how the noises in me head would sound with the right person at the mixing desk ha ha) Milk Kan and of course The Roots were right up my street this week.

Cheers Shane, and great to see you back in the groove x

  2. Loved this topic and RTJ gurued it excellently. Loved Shoey’s list which was really broad and very accessible and this is starting off in the same grand fashion. Mungo’s Hi Fi is ace.

  3. there you go – 3 cheers ……
thanks all for popping in – a very difficult week for finding tunes – and lots of hornets nests being disturbed – but I like a challenge and felt the playlist came out great.

    • Three cheers for our side. I actually had more to nom and regret not adding some Front Line Assembly to my noms. Listened to these last night and am now playing Joan of Arc again, daughter has just said ‘let’s dance’. She’s a digital native.

  4. Lots of great stuff here, but just wanted to say Clint Boon = Genius. The Inspirals were one of the first bands I fell in love with, and this track made me feel it all over again.

  5. Cheers for dopplereffekt’s “pornoactress”. It had a sidebar link to Miss Kitten & the Hacker Some good stuff there. Could’ve made a case for this last week.

Have you heard 18+ ? It’s more softcore chillwave dub. Is that a genre? Tis now.

    See you.

    • My internet connection is up the spout so can’t watch these at all – it’s painfully slow to load – (coming in the house okay – and the computer can’t diagnose anything) .. ’tis all very odd. Router or ethernet cable gone, possibly. Typical at the end of an internet theme that I had to stick up for!

(and Amy accidently forgot to include Clint Boons – white no sugar)

Got a couple of Miss Kitten albums – and tracks with goldenboy.. they are great…

shall have a watch of these when I get my bloody computer working again – it was all fine until Apple demanded it back to put a new hard drive in – now I’m just getting problems all over the shop. grrrrr.

as I can’t play I’m compiling a CD for my boy’s 8th birthday on Sunday it’s going electro all of a sudden … heehee.

      let’s see if this posts.

      • Had to get a new router about 6 months back. Improved things immeasurably.

I know what you mean about the lack of good stuff in RTJ’s list. I had to write her an email and say it wasn’t perfect but merely the best list ever compiled for RR.

Miss Kitten is great. Really enjoyed listening to her stuff last night. I think now is as good a time as any to stop RRing because i have so much to listen to and it really deserves my attention.

Electro for 8.year-old children. Add instructions for robot dancing, popping, B-boy breaking, etc. and you’ve got a multi-million selling compilation…

      • I also forgot the exquisite Mr. Malkmus and the Jicks and the title track to this post – because they’re on my personal list. (As is the Mountain Goats)I genuinely did forget Hadouken – Crank It Up! on the b-list (don’t remember if that was yours, magic’s, or Ms Mena’s – there were a few of their tunes) – that would have been the alternate to Milk Kan, but i figured i’d go easy at the beginning of the list. That was a great tune too.

RR is getting trolled by a Sybilistic douchebag bigtime, i htink i’m with DsD and out. Even wore, i think it may be the guru this week too. Unless the guru actually is Maki. In which case i’m breathing a sigh of relief.

      • Milk Kan’s “iPod” was the perfect choice.

I saw the unpleasantness yesterday morning and scrolled quickly past and did what I intended to do: click a few recs.

Is there a guru this week? Only skimmed through this week and haven’t seen any guru interaction. Will have a closer look later today. .
