A little more 90′s Spanish female fronted indie from the maki archives. This week we’re with the rebellious strawberries or Los Fresones Rebeldes. The girliest and probably most fun of the bands I’ve posted recently. This is pop music. Nothing more or less than that. I love them to bits. It’s the sort of messy, we’re having fun and you can have it with us too attitude that I like most about this group.

I love the rebellious strawberries I have ‘Gran Selección 1995 – 2001′ I’m guessing that’s a best of … there used to be this brilliant blog called ‘letters have no arms’ or something – wonderful writing from some people in Athens – they got me hooked – the woman that wrote on the blog had great taste in indie pop, but from all over Europe, much to my delight – this band was one that she suggested – I think the blog writers moved to Spain and sadly gave up.
shall listen later after I finish doing a post. cheers maki. can’t wait.
Hi Maki ! ! !
They are fantastic and totally love them ! ! !
They sort of remind me a little of both Puffy Ami Yumi and Shonen Knife, but that is a very good thing ! ! !
Thank you sharing Maki ! ! !
Listened to the first few tracks – it’s pretty good fun, pure pop as you say!
My Spanish is poor at the best of times, but I am really struggling to pick out a single word that they are singing – have they got particularly strong regional accents? Like the messy flute and bongo combo on Esta Mañana. Will listen a little more tomorrow – sounds like good music to make breakfast too.
Hey, I totally missed this! Los Fresones on the Spill, well done, Maki!
But, no “Al Amanecer”? tut, tut
