Popping a few more cds into i-tunes, I must have reached the twee indie section of my collection. I like this a lot. You may or may not, but here it is. There’s a nice back story to this one: Mai Meneses, the vocalist, was unceremoniously kicked out at the end of the first program of the first series of Operación Triunfo (a sort of Spanish X Factor) and told in no uncertain terms not to give up the day job. When she released this, her first album, most of her erstwhile peers had been long forgotten.

From your intro I got the feeling that you had fairly low expectations of people liking this, so I didn’t have very high expectations myself. Sometimes I find that starting out with low expectations leads to a pleasant surprise, as it it did in this case! I like her voice a lot, and rather enjoyed these tracks.
Thanks! I’m just about the only person in my immediate circle who really likes this so I suppose my expectations are / were low. Thanks for listening.
Hi Maki ! ! !
I really loved this ! ! !
I think my favourite was No Paraba De Llover
But I really liked them all. SHe has a great voice ! ! !
Thank you for sharing Maki ! ! !
Hi Maki, really enjoyed these. Pretty sure I’ve come across them before. Poppy but slightly off-centre, which is how I like a lot of my music. One of my favourite sounds at the moment is that of The Suicide of Western Culture. Add them to my admiration for Fuel Fandango and everything on Elefant Records and it’s safe to say I’m really enjoying the sounds of Spain at the moment. Keep ‘em coming.
Liked most of these a lot but why, oh why, use the vocoder on the third track ?
Really spoils it IMHO.
