The Black Angels: I dig their droney psyche doom pop the most, ya know?
This song is the first inkling of their fourth album, “Indigo Meadow”, which is agonisingly not out ’til April.
The Black Angels’ first album was also my 3rd favourite of the noughties, list fans.
Unrelated, but we are now only 9 posts off the 2,000 mark, so if anyone has any ideas about how to mark this, um, landmark – please say so in the comments. Cheers.
Totally ace, just listened to this yesterday. Been listening to them, and other psych / garage / pop / punk a lot lately. Hmm, maybe i’ll do a mini-playlist thins weekend as i have nothing to contribute on the mothership this week.
I would very much look forward to that, Amylee.
I enjoyed that – only trouble is they mention a name at the beginning – and I find (with songs that mention a name) I always go off on a tangent thinking about people I know/knew called that … very off putting because I forget to take any notice of the song …
umm ideas for post #2000? – what about everyone opening their favoured music filing system – finding one track from the year 2000 (re-releases – wrong dates – best of compilations, etc, all accepted) and making a 2000 playlist – not 2000 songs obviously – that would be silly.
See also “Suicide Sally & Johnny Guitar”. I gotta crown made of human skull. But on the other hand “Cheree, Cheree”.
that was pretty great!…and good advice too…
Yeah…but….toy guns? or is it a metaphor? Josephine, a self confessed hired gun, says “don’t play with guns” ?
I’m a bit partial to the Black Angels too, good to hear their new one.
Josephine Wiggs maybe?
If you listen to this song twice or thrice, the refrain is really quite earwormy (he said on his twelfth listen…)
