  1. Lemon Jelly mentioning Angmering – my local train station – has totally made my day. Also wonderful to listen to Hobo Humping Slobo Babe again – a blast of 90s nostalgia. And is it OK to like Snow Patrol? Because I did. And others. Great playlist as always.

    • I’m not sure what Snow Patrol did to offend the taste arbiters to get put on the Coldplay blacklist – apart from releasing a good album that got overplayed & overexposed. Oh, think I just answered my own question.

(Wouldn’t recommend their last one, but though this tune deserved cherry picking.

      Cheers for open ears.

  2. my open ears tracks were Tindersticks (I like them, but I’ve never found a song to really drag me in) this was most beautiful – the vocal wasn’t so over the top – that I can find overbearing on some songs.

the other was Simple Minds (they were already ostracised because of pomp mode by the time I ever listened) this was alright though.

21st Century Dub – Beggars Suite Pt. I, II, III
Andy Fairley & Dub Syndicate – Lack Of Education
were just perfect. .. I was expecting ‘underwear goes inside the pants’ to follow.

… I do an indie disco mix just for fun every month; Whale – Hobo Humping Slobo Babe is always on it – one of my all time favourite bounce around the room tracks – when I started writing out my nomination at 10-30 Thursday night I found it had already been shouted at 10 past 10. *peeved*

Weird theme for me, I’ve ended up without a home lots in my life – just because I walk out on doing stuff/living life, mostly. Funnily enough I had been drifting and sofa surfing for 3 years when I met the Ms. who happened to be the boss of the Big Issue in the area that I HAD lived in, on and off, for 19 years.

    didn’t notice Fuel shouting:

Style Of Eye & Slagsmålsklubben – Homeless (Canblaster Remix)

    so shall add it here:

    • Ha! Not heard that before. Great. My first thoughts were all pretty MOR and I never got out of that rut this week. I did add AF& DS to my listening though. Love the end to that. Cheerio. Fuel.

    • Simple Minds peaked for me with Sons & Fascination/Sister Feelings Call & started a downward slide after that. The new live album is from that era & may be worth a listen – as they were great live, before they went stadium.

      • saneshane, Shoey’s so right on this. The lyrics might be “cut and paste make them mean what you want,” but Simple Minds were very good back then. They even recorded the second album, Real to Real Cacophony, so that it would have no singles for the record company to release. And they pretty much continued with that attitude until NGD. Not that that makes ‘em good or owt, but it shows they were far from the stadium behemoths they eventually became. Losing McGee and later on Forbes totally changed the rhythms they experimented with.

      • I interviewed Jim Kerr (over the phone) a few years ago, and he was very nice. I don’t really know their music though.

“Drunk Tank” is one of the many, many highlights of the first Tindersticks album, and somehow sequenced in the perfect place on the record.

  3. Rex the Dog. Woof! Cat Power. Meow! Durutti Column. Build high!

Shoey, if you have received an email from the address you used to ask for the Spill 3s then delete it. The problem has been sorted. In fact, only one wierd email has been reported as being sent from that address – but that was one too many.

    Cheerio

      • Sorry ’bout that. Am phish free this end. The invite was sent bcc, so if you’ve sorted it your end, all should be good – but will keep an eye out.

Do keep having to delete a troll on the festive 3 thread. The price we pay for doing something popular, I suppose.

      • Popular, I don’t think I’ve ever been involved in something popular. It’s a strange concept as is trolling.
