  1. Many years ago (1978) I saw Magazine at The Greyhound in Croydon. They opened with “Definitive Gaze” and we were shocked to realise that Howard Devoto was miming.

Even more shocked when the real Howard approached the stage through the middle of the audience singing “so this is real life” etc into a radio mike and the miming lookalike departed the stage.

      • Posted on LOL!I made these same worms this year for Halloween! A few looked like they were suppsoed to, most looked like yours! Also, a warning, if you use TOO hot of water for TOO long, well, all that will come out of those 5000 straws is red jello-y water! LOL I tossed em, with only maybe a 1/4 of them out of the straws. I just couldn’t imagine trying to squeeze the rest of them out, just to end up with goo. LOL

  2. F.S.K. – Fragen Der Philosophie is my find of the week from you … bloody ace mate (any albums I should start with ‘voluntary self-control’ Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle – F.S.K. – isn’t anything I can do ! )

Interesting topic – sadly lacking in artists willing to tackle it – I’ve ended up really enjoying this playlist and the one I’ve created for myself though.

Don’t think webby is going to pick Sisters of Mercy the absolute best track with a mention of Philosophers.

    from yours A list certainties:

    Get Well Soon
    Joy Div
    Wolfgang Press
    Mi & L’au
    Neutral Milk Hotel

they were hovering about my mind.

Cibo Matto was great – and all the rest ace too – thanks from compiling. Loads to think about.

    • Was begining to wonder that if nobody listens to a playlist, does it really. Took some liberties with the theme as philosophy is much more fun than name checking a bunch of ponderous academics.

Early FSK is tough to track down (this one’s from C’est la Blues, I think). There is a recent handy 3cd comp (deep breath) F.S.K. ‎– Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle Ist Ein Mode Und Verzweiflung Produkt.

      Cheers for listening.

    • Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk is coming to town to play at the end of January. Saw their drummer recently (50% of a A Hawk & A Hacksaw) & he has a most excellent moustache.

  3. Hi Shoey, I’m listening. FSK were a treat. As were Mi & L’au. I remember Peel playing F.S.K, a lot back in the day. Sometimes I treat the playlists like a radio show and let them play while doing stuff around the house or working. It means they don’t get my full attention and I’ll miss songs; still don’t think I’ve heard part two of this week’s list. Should give it a list now.
