Was down at Quique’s the other day. He said why not check out this guy, Pájaro, he’s brought an album called Santa Leone out and it’s meant to be dead good. I did and it is. I’m really enjoying listening to it. Pájaro is a long time member of the rock, blues and general good time music scene in Seville who’s finally made a record of his own. World weary blues, Morricone tributes, Flamenco tinged surf music (is that possible?) and music that sounds like it was a lot of fun to make. Here’s a link to the bandcamp page. Listen, enjoy, praise or diss in the comments if that is your wont. Sorry not to write a review and so on but it’s the beginning of the academic year and I’m rushed off my feet. I just wanted to share it with you.
Have a (probably unexpected) dond from me, i loved it. I was in a really irritable mood and that made me relax and smile. Thanks!
Thanks amy! It does that doesn’t it? Put a smile on your face, I mean.
And a big part of it was your “flamenco tinged surf rock” comment – danged if i didn’t have Hawaii Five-O running through my mind while i was listening to it and smiling. Or maybe it’s just sort of like punk flamenco?
Hard to categorise – what I like about the whole thing is that they seem to be having so much fun!
Yes, lovely stuff. Laid back and twangy, good for the soul.
Finally got to it. It defies categorization doesn’t it? There’s such large lushness here, something cinematic. And charismatic. Great stuff.
Here you have the rest of albun, enjoy
