It’s not all Flamenco at Maki Towers. This week’s topic has had me looking back at the punkier end of my Spanish music collection. Last couple of tracks are a little more mellow but this is a playlist to spill beer to.
Maki: Don’t quite know what to say, I’ve tasted about half of the cervsas in your photo but somehow the volume and the tempos are not what I usually drink my Sierra Nevada ale to, the one cut that I did enjoy was #10, Luis Brea.
Possibly the offending word was ‘punkier’.
Some good stuff here none of which I’m familiar with. I’m only vaguely familiar with a handful of Spanish bands
My favourites were
Porretas – most liberal usage of harmonica on a punk-ish record since the UK Subs first album. Bit of a pub rock thig going on here perhaps? I ike the guy’s vocals
Lendakaris Meurtos – my favourite, the most “streetpunk” out of the lot
Attaque 77 – as donded on the mothership. This reminded me of some French punk bands for some reason.

Thanks for listening (and commenting) GF. I’m glad you liked the Luis Brea.
Really enjoyed these, Maki. Thanks so much for posting! Number 8 for me.
But tell me – have you ever thought that a Ska/Punk fusion might work?
Check out this version of Guns Of Brixton!
Fabulous
Fabuloso, even
