Thank you! I think celebrations have rather stalled as I have been at work, but I have just had a slice of cake, so there is hope. Thanks for doing this post, most unexpected
Ooh happy birthday, Beth! Have been meaning to contact you to ask if you listened to Siouxsie Sioux’s programme of her favourite tracks on 6Music over the weekend? It’s really rather wonderful, albeit not terribly ‘goth’. (She likes a surprising amount of 70s disco!) Hope you had a fab day anyway. Here’s my favourite Banshees track for you:
Not the cheeriest of songs of course, but many happy returns!
Ta, bish, I did listen to her selection, we had a bet that she’d include one of her own songs and she did! Funnily enough I listened to this particular track twice yesterday as I had it stuck in my head, so a particularly welcome choice!
she’s quite interesting, isn’t she? Reminds me of Anita Lane, friend of Nick Cave, stylistically. I had a quiet but nice day thanks with a school meeting in the evening, so not much rock n roll, but we did watch the film Hugo which was surprisingly affecting.
Love that one, Aba, thanks very much. I was arranging childcare for the Castle Cary social yesterday, looking forward to that very much. There will be directions closer to the time won’t there?
Yes, directions will certainly be provided – at around the same time that I’ll start canvassing for dietary preferences…
goodie
Happy Birthday Beth!
The gothest record on my shelves….more Death Disco than goth, but…
Non, ce que je vais jamais vingt-et-un! Nice song though, Hadn’t heard it before and the guy’s hair is quite reminiscent of Marc Bolan, so that’s good.
Ah, I do love a bit of Astbury, I bet he did something more interesting than driving his other half to work and then gardening on his birthday. Still mine was fun and thanks for the wishes.
He had nice long hair in this video, but what on earth is he wearing? Are they long sorts or some kind of hareem pants? Eek!
That seems to be a recent video, so he’s well into fatness i think. If you want to go off Ian permanently though, i stumbled on this horror -
That is man in need of hard liquor and make up, but actually, it takes more than that to put me off Ian, I have been a fan of his since he had a Bradford accent after all
It’s not his looks on that one that was the problem, it was the off-the-charts cringe factor. I just stick with the ca. early 80′s vids for the most part After all, i’m no oil painting now either.
LOL, me neither, well unless it’s a Dorian Gray style oil painting. Age comes to us all
Happy Birthday from me Beth. Belatedly, but have a splendid birthday weekend.
I’ve still got to find a good birthday song for you, so I’ll be back later.
Okay, I hope this works for you!
Happy Birthday, Beth. I hope the celebrations continue well into the weekend.

hope you had a great birthday – I shall try not to add a grave song ! – let’s go with some birthday joy live from a cave:
Kate Wax – Maze rider (live from the cave)
she’s quite interesting, isn’t she? Reminds me of Anita Lane, friend of Nick Cave, stylistically. I had a quiet but nice day thanks with a school meeting in the evening, so not much rock n roll, but we did watch the film Hugo which was surprisingly affecting.
Happy Birthday, Beth.
The Gothiest thing so far this year is probly this:
I enjoyed that, thanks!
Happy Belated Birthday, beth!
For some reason, this came instantly to mind:
Many thanks, I do like Sparklehorse, but hadn’t heard this before. I like it.
Hi Beth ! ! !
誕生日おめでとう。(Tanjoubi omedetou)
Happy Birthday ! ! !
This is a nice song I hope you like it
Love Psychedelico – Beautiful Days
(The video has photos from the super romantic film My Rainy Days)
Oooops !!!!
I forgot the link . . . duh ! ! !
That didn’t sound anything like I expected, that’ll teach me to prejudge music! Thank you for the nice wishes.
I’m afraid I have absolutely no idea what a good birthday song would be, beyond the crashingly obvious, so I won’t try… Happy Birthday.
And then the very next thing on the mp3 player turns out to be at least conceivably acceptable…

Happy Birthday Beth!
The gothest record on my shelves….more Death Disco than goth, but…
Thank you for introducing me to a band I’d never heard of before, quite like the singer.
Happy birthday, bethnoir! here’s some chillout music for people with black lace parasols…
Endless Sky by the Pentangle
There’s an awful lot of birthdays around just lately. What’s all that about……………..?
I’m off out tonight and got to get ready so I’ll say Happy Birthday Beth for now and I’ll pop back later with a song (hopefully).
Hope you had a good night out, bluepeter, thanks.
Happy Birthday Beth, you must be trente by now?
Non, ce que je vais jamais vingt-et-un! Nice song though, Hadn’t heard it before and the guy’s hair is quite reminiscent of Marc Bolan, so that’s good.
Happy birthday …here’s the Virgin Prunes who, thoughtfully, have brought a birthday cake
I’ve never really investigated this band, nice that they incorporate cake into their live act though. Ta very much.
Oooh! Belated happy birthday from me too (but no prunes, virgin or otherwise)
Many thanks Ali.
Happy birthday Bethnoir!
Here’s a bit of fun, I hope.
lots of fun! Thank you, Dave Vanian’s look has eternal appeal for me.
Uh oh Beth, i’m late for your party! So on short notice (and it seems your birthdays are separated by a month) – Happy birthday!
Ah, I do love a bit of Astbury, I bet he did something more interesting than driving his other half to work and then gardening on his birthday. Still mine was fun and thanks for the wishes.
