  1. Goats also have “Baboon” & “Ape”, but unikely to make the cut this week.

Bah! Califone taken – off to quest for replacement monkeyfolk.

    • … unlikely to make the cut if the track isn’t ‘No Children’ i think.

sorry about the Califone – I did check – couldn’t see it nominated..

that bliming Panthersan and his Reg Fries 7″ beat me to King Kong –
and Fuel beat me to Sage Francis – dance monkey …
and Helen beat me to I am Kloot.
      All brilliant tracks…

I’ve found it tough to find many decent songs in the theme – there’s enough – but not overwhelming… look forward to your list – Matthew Dear better be on it… great tune.

      • Ooh, are my ears burning?! Sorry about IAK, but you got me back with The Miserable Rich. The tracks from Miles, Departure Lounge, ISSOA and Califone are real finds. Thanks Shane!
For me this has been a fun week with some really great music put up.

      • I think it’s brilliant that there’s more people with taste that interests me, playing – it goes through waves, certain people have slowed down nominating or left entirely and others join in…. it usually takes me a while to really identify if we are going to overlap – but that’s the brilliance of this game…. finding new wonderful songs from people whose judgement you respect.

and like Japanther’s Regular Fries nomination and your I Am Kloot I might need pushing to remember those great tracks.

Here’s an old gig write up:

        we-walked-into-that-bar-and-we-disappeared-in-style

I think it’s been a fun week too – I’m just surprised I can’t find more great tracks – it felt like an open theme with lots of potential – but I came to an abrupt end in my collection – I have a few more that I’ll add later on RR .. if they don’t get picked up.

Miles are a German band that write in English so have a quirky turn of phrase that I really like.

The Departure Lounge album ‘Too Late To Die Young’ is very good too.

ISSOA is from Lagos Chop Up – that and Lagos Shake: A Tony Allen Chop Up are fab mixes of Afrobeat tunes – I love them.

        Cheers for listening.

  2. many apologies for nicking Regular Fries Shane………….it is a great song though…….absolutely no chance of it getting picked mind you…!

    • no worries – I think you getting in there first is great – and as we both know ‘absolutely no chance of it getting picked mind you’ – is the correct statement – heehee

  3. Another great list

Shoey got extra points by including MIcragirls — you can hear the Finnishness in the way the first syllable in Gorilla is heavily stressed and the r is rrrrrrrrrollled. A great garage band. I was going to put them with Risto and a song that would please Chinhealer but the joke didn’t work anymore. Here’s the Risto song:

    Risto – Levy-yhtiön jätkät

Levy-yhtiön jätkät roudaa mun kotiin kaikenlaista paskaa
Minä en pistä nimee vittu mihinkään teidän papereihin
    Pyyhkikää perseenne niihin
Pyyhkikää perseenne saatanan apinat ou jee

Record company blokes bring all kinds of shit to my home.
I won’t put my name on your fucking papers
    Wipe yer arse on them
Wipe yer arse on them you fucking monkeys, oh yeah.

BTW Point of origin donds to you for Sage Francis. Pretty sure it was one of your suggestions that led to me finding his work.

    • like that Fuel –

For a while, a long long time back – I did try getting Crack Pipes by Sage in every week – it worked pretty well – this week I could have mentioned ‘chiselling the monkey off her back with this ice pick’- that he says part way through.
I do believe it is one of THE greatest rap tracks ever written ..

..fun twisted selection this week… good fun.
