Flight Of The Conchords – Angels
Happy Mondays – Angel
Delgados – I Fought The Angels
Echo & The Bunnymen – Angels & Devils
Psychic TV – Godstar [Ready Steady Go Mix]
Talking Heads – Thank You For Sending Me An Angel
Mazzy Star – Be My Angel
Nina Nastasia – Little Angel
Lotte Kestner – Halo
Kimya Dawson – Angels & Seagulls
Jesca Hoop – Havoc In Heaven
Lisa Germano – Angels Turn To Devils
Mountain Goats – Maybe Sprout Wings
Thee More Shallows – Walk Of Shame

The Bunnymen did some very good b sides, Angels & Devils is one of them. I saw them in 1984 and they played it instead of Silver.
Simple Stuff is still the best Bunny b side though.
Never heard that one live, unfortunately.
Another good playlist Shoey. Star of the show for me was the Happy Mondays. I’m still unconvinced by the Mountain Goats though, despite your including them in probably every playlist. I’m also to date immune to the charms of Kimya Dawson, because 1) it’s not terribly musically interesting to me, and 2) i hate her voice, it sounds like my own. But marginally (maybe a little more) better. Thanks, Shoey.
Wish I’d remembered that Mondays for Doctors week – much better fit for that theme.
Shane & I will no doubt continue to bludgeon you with Goats until you all surrender. Not the greatest, voice, tunes (often similar) or musicianship – it’s the words & stories. Kimya’s marmite too, for me she has an honesty & POV you don’t get from anyone else.
Taken by Delgados, Echo and Lotte Kestner. Really taken by Th(r?)ee More Shadows. Take or leave Kimya Dawson and The MGs.
Hey TF – nice to see you over here.
It is Thee More Shallows & it’s 5 years & counting for new stuff although Dee Kestler has been fairly busy with Ral Partha Vogelbacher & The Fops.
Thanks Shoey, I’ll check ‘em out.
Enjoyed the early ones.
Then I thought I’d died and gone to freak-folk/dream-folk heaven. Hope! Nina! Lotte! Kimya! Jesca! Lisa! Absolutely wonderful. Liked Thee More Shallows too.
As for the Mountain Goats, I like them and liked that one, although I sometimes think he could do more with what’s obviously a special lyrical gift. What I’ve heard (I have Tallahassee and The Sunset Tree, and a few random mp3s) is invariably sharp, interesting, clever – but small. Maybe that’s like criticising Raymond Carver for not writing War and Peace.
Glad you liked it. As for The Goats, sometimes (not always) there are some big themes amongst the small details and usually more going on than you might think at first glance.
great playlist shoey – Lisa Germano being a standout amongst a brilliant selection –
is a song that mentions angel dust (I presume he means the drug – not a really scrunched up Seraphim or Cherubim) on topic?
I skipped it Thursday night thinking it way off – no matterl, that’s why we playlist here… (When You Were Young – didn’t mention teenagers did it? so it has every chance)*****

***** those that moan about my ‘Daft Punk’** (only A list of the year) – get deeply scrutinised.

**arteesane got the teenagers – but that was hijacked by japanthers better quote in the write up.
Yeah, not bad for someone who started out with Johnny Cougarmelon. Her other angel instrumental is good too – she gets her fiddle out for that one.
The Killers was a surprise. Afraid I walked out on them last year (we were getting hungry after a day of festi & although they have a few good tunes – they didn’t get around to playing any of them). All the young ladies were swooning & screaming for Brandon though.
As for DP, it looked like we were going to get all of their output in the Marconium at one point (see the *eatles). Something had to be said. I’m sorry.
