UPDATE – I’ve followed the youtube links the screen shows when Mid Air finishes. I’m now developing a mini-obsession with the song Seasons Of Light, which I don’t think I’ve never heard before, despite it being a few years old and from the kind of Christmas album I’d normally hunt down with great diligence.

OK – well, I love it!

I’ve been ‘with’ The Blue Nile ever since a friend introduced them to me back in 1984 or ’85 by playing me the 12″ of Tinsel Town In The Rain but it was the extra track on Regret that spoke loudest to me and convinced me that I had discovered a gem of a band.

I’ve stuck with them through their astonishingly small output (four albums in 28 years!) and I’ve loved just about everything I’ve heard by them.

I have to say that this track is right up there with the best of The Blue Nile’s slower, emotional, heart-rending recordings – Regret, Family Life, Because of Toledo etc. – and I like it more on each listen.

Hi all, I didn't see Later..., so have just this one song to go on so far. I only became a Blue Nile fan on the release of their most recent album, High. (Although given their rate of releases, only being a fan since their "latest" release still almost entitles me to a 10-yr Loyal Service Award!) But you know what? My anticipatory excitement at the news of this would have been as big as Toffee's if I hadn't been able to satisfy it instantly by listening to the Mid Air link so kindly provided. So WTF?!?! Why am I horribly underwhelmed? Lord knows PB has earned enough of my loyalty for me to keep trying, but so far . . . nope, completely unmoved!!!! *reaches for Medical Emergency kit* "Nurse? Charge the paddles! I don't think I can find my pulse!!"

He always takes his time but it’s always worth it. This sounds like something Sondheim might have written (in a good way). A prequel to “Send In The Clowns” perhaps. Very lovely indeed.
