Stranglers, Todd Snider, Jim White, Sweet Sweet Lies, Wedding Present, Men, Ting Tings, John Foxx & The Maths, Julia Holter, Magnetic Fields, Mark Stewart/Factory Floor/Keith Levine, Carter Tutti Void, La Sera, Vijay Iyer Trio
Glad you liked it. Took a tedious amount of time this listening to loads of new stuff – most of which wasn’t much good. Oh, well; don’t know until you try. Thankfully, a lot of the old faithfuls came through with new material & there were a few discoveries.
that Todd Snider is THE most brilliant lyrically – fits the weekend perfectly.
shall see how far I get with the playlist tonight, but then I’m away for a few days ..(and I’m not allowed to take electronic devices)
sounding great… will listen to the rest when I’m back.
If we were voting, I’d go for Magnetic Fields, Julia Holter and Todd Snider, with a special welcome back hug for the Wedding Present. Not sure any of these sound like essential purchases though, which is always a bit of relief.
What! Mark Stewart, Jim White & Todd Snider are always essential. & a good Stranglers album after a 28 year wait is pretty special. The Sweet Sweet Lies first effort is a lot of fun too. Weddoes & Magnetic Fields were a bit patchy this time around.
Yeah, it took awhile into the song for the Todd Snider to interest me musically. But it was worth it. May post it onour politics Spill blog.
Gotta say i’ve heard better from Mark Stewart et al though, just by that one song.
Picked that one because it contains Mr Levine. Here he is in “angry” mode:
& he put out a cover of T-Rex’s Children Of The Revolution to mark the occasion of last year’s London lootings. Bless him.
I liked that one, but neither of them really grabbed me like some of the older stuff did.
Awesome playlist Shoey. Absolutely loved the Stranglers, and gun to my head, runner up i think is the Ting Tings. Thanks.

Too busy nabbing all the chocolates, I see. Have a great Easter.

What’s the name of that Stranglers tune? I must have listened to it well over 10 times so far.
“Another Camden Afternoon”, 1st track from the new album.
Thanks as always for putting this together.

Where is everybody, anyway. this playlist rocks.
