I just stumbled across these little mindf**ks. It’s great that someone has had the musical breadth of interest to make them but I really can’t decide what I think about the results…

I can – I lasted 33 and 11 seconds respectively.
I listened 42 seconds and and 26 seconds – I am winning or losing ? ? ?
It does beg the question of who the audience for these track is, I suppose…. (just me, possibly!)
I actually quite like the way they’ve cut up – and speeded up – Jack Straw: it’s quite respectful to the original music.
The ‘We can share the women, we can share the wine’ line does actually fit with the Notorious B.I.G. lyrics, as it’s spoken by someone outside the law and has the same ingrained disrespect for the female sex (although the language is not as extreme). And, although there isn’t a murder in the Notorious B.I.G. lyrics (as there is in the Dead song), violence seems to be in the air. Along with the marijuana smoke, common to both sets of musicians….
The connections between the second two songs are rather more tenuous. And musically less interesting to boot.
I find there’s a shitload more of this stuff out there, including this weird 38-minute mash-up of the Dead and Deadmau5:
As Sakura might put it: ! ! !
This one was interesting ! ! ! – but I did not listen to it all (I did not have time) I will try again later.
Oh please don’t feel obliged to that, Sakura, simply because I quoted your signature exclamation marks! There are some bits that are strangely effective but other parts that simply don’t work at all. And it is very long.
This one is straight from the disco (or wherever young people dance these days):
I’ll stop now.
Doubt Notorious BIG would be that happy, either.
Too many youtube wannabe producers with too much time on their hands, I think.
It can only be a good thing if it encourages people to travel outside the genres they usually confine themselves to, to go and discover new music. Maybe they will find The Dead are “the new kewlest thing everrrr”.
Thanks for any other informative blog. Where else may just I get that kind of info wriettn in such an ideal approach? I have a venture that I am just now operating on, and I have been at the glance out for such info.
