Happy birthday Shoey – very close to my birthday as it happens. Perhaps there’s something about being born around this time of year that means there’s a predisposition to liking post-punk?
Dond – and a greeting to all the birthday celebrators.
Thanks, it’s still to come. 2nd January, it is scientifically possible to prove that it’s the worst day of the year to have a birthday although I don’t suppose 30th December is the best either.
Not in Scotland – it’s a bank holiday.
Think it has more to do with Springtime sap rising in parental units.
All us old goats do seem to like our rock, though.
My kids (aka the Shoeteens) were the outcome of stress relief following parental visitations.
Ali of the technical difficulties here – Happy birthday Shoey, and anyone else who has a birthday in the vicinity – I am raising my glass to you all. And nice photo, Maki.
@ Shoey – you’re welcome: will raid Granny’s drinks cupboard in a minute to raise one in your honour.
@ wyngate – my friends of over a quarter-of-a-century gordonimmel and purplepasty would both agree with you: they’re the 5th & the 3rd respectively. Maybe you’d like to join the Jan B’day Grumpy Pub Crawl in Cleckbradhuddersfax on Friday … ?
Happy birthday Shoegazer. Does being born at this time of the year predispose one to post-punk? Er … yes. A lot of my friends have birthdays at this time of the year. We all celebrate together on the 5th because the 6th is a national hoilday in Finland,, and the last chance of the season to consume alcohol senselessly. It’s Epiphany, which would be a good RR theme. Hope you all have great birthdays. Cheers. Fuel
He has and with his ever thoughtful sequencing. My third choice was The Grates – Turn Me On which is a song I’ve played a lot, although it’s not amazing it means a lot to me. As do my other choices. Kode9 and the Spaceape – Am I and Mirel Wagner – No Death. I’d like to do a post on my top 20 Finnish songs for 2011 – The Do would be in there . Let’s see if I can find time. BTW BSP – Living Is So Easy, a fine choice.
Valhalla Dancehall has been one of my most played albums – there was an Alternative Versions and Demos album too…
The Dø have just missed out in the saneshane/arTEEsane over the top year round up (see above) – but they will get a mention if I can slip in some writing time over the weekend to explain my random choices.
I would love to hear a Finnish top 20.. but time is the struggle here too.
Happy birthday!
Ha, great picture, Maki! Happy birthday, Shoey, and many more.
And Happy Birthday to Fintan too, know it’s around this time of year, but not sure of the date.
Thanks Maki & folks. Am amazed at the psychic powers of DsD to nail the date.
FYI Email informs that Magicman has just popped in to the Festive 3′s, if you want to say hi.
Happy birthday, Shoey.

Happy birthday, Wyngate! Has it gone by yet or has it yet to come?

Happy Shoeday, sir – does it mean you get presents with more value (than you would normally) because your loved ones got them in the sales?
I still haven’t indulged enough – so will join you in cake and beer – (soon as the boys are asleep) have a merry one.
Think the technical term is the shaft giftwise, as everyone is skint (the younger Shoeteen can confirm, as her birthing is celebrated on the 27).
Always quite enjoyed the thing falling between Krimble & Auld Lang Syne. Early Jan birthdays must blow like Hootie, though.

Happy Birthday, Mister Shoe.

Have a good one, Shoey…
Hey, Happy Birthday, hope you get pampered and indulged, that’s what I always ask for instead of socks.
Happy Birthday Shoey, have a large one (as they used to say in the 90s) !
Happy Birthday Shoey ! ! !
I hope you have a wonderful day ! ! !
