3 Yoda Meets The Thunderbirds DJ Yoda
4 Hey Hey We Are Not The Monkees The JAMS
I am almost at my wits end with the tv themes. (My aversion to tv is almost pathological.) I don’t know how my cousin can bear having Maisie Mouse practically on a loop in her house from 7 in the morning til 8 at night 24/7 or why people schedule their social (or their sex lives) around the tv schedules.
But, this is a witty and entrancing playlist, and I love your lager loving yellow cartoon character. Loved Bod and Just Give Em Whisky on list 1. Maybe Tomorrow on list 3. Hey, Hey We Are Not The Monkees was cute. Not wild on DJ Yoda although The Thunderbirds was decent imho.
I’m not so good with TV nowadays – the ariel has moved in a storm and needs adjusting – but I just can’t be bothered to do so.
We will sit with a good box set and watch when we want to – but mostly we pay our licence for the kids – but cbeebies wont tune in now so my boy is watching all the videos of Ivor the engine, bod and trap door. But he’s pretty good at 20/30 minutes then it goes off.
As my computer screen is bigger than the TV I wonder why we even own a set.
as for DJ Yoda – he is an amazingly skilled turntablist – seeing him mix so many snippets of records together is quite something to watch – but I must admit I struggled to find the cds very interesting, re- listening for this.
Ah ! The fifth Teletubbie, Tipsy-Wipsy. Fired from the series for doin unspeakable things with the Nu-Nu.
Have to say that Bod tune was my fave. Bod-a-cious.
I designed the Shouting La La La La Lager teletubbie when I was a student – the original was about 5 foot high on the hall wall – our greeter as you opened the front door.
For a satirical magazine I’d re-written some Mr.Men books (mr tipsy- purvey, mr. slump, mr.crappy etc) so was trying to up date that.
Bod I have a lot of time for – they were supposed to be simple little Buddhist ideas – I have a 40th anniversary (of the books) CD that came out on Trunk records.. brilliant stuff.
we used to use quotes from my Dougal and the Blue Cat record and Play School/Playaway Disc in samples and in A/V shows- before Charlie Says and sesame treat were recorded. I’m sure Stone Roses stole ideas wholesale from playaway’s song ‘bang on a drum’.
Interesting: some of these work as stand alone, some don’t without the memories from the related bit of TV. Think you pulled it off, though. Be interesting to see how JonD does.
Love the Sanetubby, they would be well into drinking age by now.

“this program was brought to you with the help of Hooch and Two Dogs”
I thought back when the teletubby’s started alchopops were – along with ecstasy – the daily wails pet projects!
Put a teat on your TWO DOGS
‘why learn to walk when you’ll be crawling for the rest of your life’
or..
Hooch and Heroin (if you are not a Conservative) John Major’s idea of your family values.
Think this theme is cursed by each and every one of our memories for it to be an interesting list – we shall see…. could be proved wrong.
