I’ve just sold my house, for less than I wanted but I’m sure I can manage. So Ivan, Ellis and their parents will be moving to a new house and I’ll be moving to theirs. (Poor Ivan’s not very happy about it at the moment I’m afraid.) It’ll be all round to mine for the party in early November…
…and this is a song about moving on with no second thoughts.

Congratulations! So glad you have a buyer. Roll on Milton Keynes.
Thanks, SR! It’ll be the 13th time I’ve moved house. Lucky I’m not superstitious.
I’ve moved house 12 times, if you count all those rented student digs. Planning on staying put here for a while, though.
Really pleased for you tfd, I hope it all goes through without too much grief. So glad I visited when I did! If you need any help with clearing and boxing sometime, let me know while I am still gainfully unemployed! I’m having a celebratory glass of wine in your honour.
Cheers, Ali! (I may well take you up on that…)
I’m great with other people’s de-cluttering, it’s just my own that’s a problem!
So glad you’ve found a buyer at last! It seems like ages since you mentioned the house was on the market.
Good ol’ Tom Petty. A song for every occasion, and pretty much all of ‘em worth the listen. I’m enjoying this one.
And you know what? Milton Keynes is a lot easier for me to get to, so I might even accept that invitation!
Thanks, Zalamanda – it’s since Easter. Loads of people have been to look but only one lot ever actually wanted to buy it! Glad you like the song…
It’s a very small house so only the furthest-away people will be able to stay the night.
(I mean the new house is very small. The Fish House is enormous.)
I’m delighted for you tfd and best of luck with the move ! I hate moving – don’t know how you could do that 12 times.
Thanks, mdm! I hate moving too but hey, it’s better than divorce and bereavement. (My wedding was very unstressful.)
Phew, congratulations tfdwas it Burns wot swung it? Anyway, if you make it down to MK before the 25th October you could join me for an early birthday bash at The Stables to see Jackie Leven; I’ll fill my hip flask with the last of my supply of Jackies own whisky, ‘Leven’s Lament – The Lonely Spirit of the Glens’, of which Salman Rushdie is reported to have said ‘Try it; you’ll be sadder but wiser.”.
Coo, yeah! Will he sell out do you think?
Can’t remember whether I even mentioned Burns to this particular lot – it’s all a blur…
Oooooooh . . . . probably not, mind you it’s Stables 2. I think I’ve only ever been to one sold out JL show, at the 12 Bar Club in London.
Right then: if I can make it I’ll meet you in the bar and if there’s a ticket left I’ll buy it.
Congratulations, tfd! I suspect that a buyer in the hand is worth two with more money hiding in a bush.
I hope all the legal and physical logistics work out OK. And the weather behaves itself on the moving day(s).
Oh god yes, the weather – end of October…
*shudders*
Talking of birthdays it looks as though the first day I won’t have to go to work will be Oct 20, which is TP’s birthday. So I expect I’ll play First Flash Of Freedom.
Well congratulations !
Hope it all goes well for you.
Thanks, pairubu
Congrats on selling your house! That’s great, it’s a tough market here and i imagine it’s just as bad there. I’ve moved a lot more that 13 times i think. Again in October, but i know not where yet…
Since no one has posted a tune for you, i will.
Loved that, amy, thank you. Yes, the market’s very tough just now – most people seem to be sitting tight and waiting for things to get better. Still, it could’ve been a LOT worse, because my house had been for sale for more than two years when I bought it.
Now Naomi needs to find a house to buy – and guess what, she went to see one yesterday which she liked!
I hope you will be very happy in your new home!
I was thinking of a song for you, but I could not think of one about moving house, but there is this one, Abbot Kinney buy Love Psychedelico which is in English and about being happy in a particular street, so maybe it will be appropriate.
I really hope your move is not stressful and that you are very hwppy in your new home!

I really like that, Sakura – she reminds me a lot of me when young (only she’s much better-looking of course). Thank you!
Congrats tfd! Milton Keynes, here you come!
Ok I will try again………

Oh dear! but the link works even if I can not make it look nice in the post! I hope you like it!
congrats TFD –
we had two years of hell selling our old house (finalised about 3 weeks ago)
but you have different laws in Scotland don’t you?
agree to a sale and it has to go ahead – isn’t it? – do hope so.. wont go into details of our rubbish English laws – but they do suck.
So very pleased for you – I moved to my 13th house as a twelve year old and my folks still live there now (even tho my brother owns it) so 13 has got to be a good un.
P.S. – I just tried counting the houses I’ve lived in an lost it by the 27th.
Wow, Shane – I didn’t realise you’d only just sold your old house – hooray!
Yes, in Scotland it’s all much simpler. Basically, once you’ve received an offer in writing and accepted it in writing, that’s it. (But email doesn’t count as writing so we haven’t done that part yet.) And we still have home reports so there’s really no need for a survey unless someone’s building society insists.
yep TFD – sold our house 5 times in the two years – once just before xmas they pulled out the day of contract exchange (after ‘making’ us send signed letters next day delivery at £5 a time to speed it up)… and we couldn’t carry on selling our house each time for 2 months because it was tied up in being ‘sold’!
As for estate agents – to build up such a business model that is tied into the selling of a place – just on the ability to answer a phone is beyond me..
…an industry that makes bankers and NoW journalists look good.
(i’m still suffering – can you tell?)
but yeah! Hooray.
..hopefully this time next year I can be extending this place using the simple pleasures of straw bales – much more fun!
TFD – Congrats on the big sale. TP called me up and said you should play this one night.

Goodness, TP, I’m shocked – and you a married man…
I’m at work now so I can’t get at the music. I’ll thank you all properly later!
yes, Congrats to both yourself and Shane.
Our move in February was ridiculously stressful! The buying process could have been a paperback thriller and on the day of the move, most things that could go wrong, did go wrong! But it’s all good now and we are nice and settled despite the fact that the house needs loads doing to it still, but that’s all part of the fun!
Congratulations, TFD and Shane! It’s nice to hear some good news for a change!
House sale & 20 A-listers in the same week. Would buy a lottery ticket if I were you!
I did win £500 from Ernie on Monday in fact.
