It’s alright for most of you, but Summer here means crap telly, just when you want to huddle around the A/C. Glimmer of hope in that season 4 of Breaking Bad will be out soon. For those not familiar, it’s the story of Walter White; An underachieving 50 year old chemistry teacher, with an unplanned baby on the way, holding down two jobs to make ends meet & then he’s diagnosed with lung cancer & given two years left to live. Walter decides to stop playing by the rules. Assisted by his likable, but not too bright, ex-student, Jesse; Walter decides to get into the Albuquerque, New Mexico crystal meth market to provide for his family. Things do not go smoothly.
Brilliantly written & photographed with tremendous performances from a great cast. Best TV since The Wire, I reckon (as long as you take your comedy black & played straight). It also has great tunes. Here are some of them. Why not make it a quiz? I’ll give you the titles – ‘Spill pints for the artists:
1. Breaking Bad Theme
2. Out Of Time Man
3. Rocket Scientist
4. Waiting Around To Die
5. Veneno
6. Life
7. The Hand Clap
8. They’re Going To Take My Thumbs
9. Windy
10. Any Way The Wind Blows
11. You’re Movin’ Me
12. Electricity In My Bones
13. Koop Island Blues
14. DLZ
15. Shimmy Shimmy Ya
16. Negro Y Azul (The Ballad Of Heisenberg)

The TV show sounds good, though I don’t think we get it here in the UK. I know track 9 but don’t know who it is. And track 10 sounds like JJ Cale.
That’s about it!!
13 koop innit – the title helps?
14 tv on the radio
never seen it (don’t watch much tele) but sounds like my sort of thing – library has the first season box set – think I’ll give it a try.
much fun in the soundtrack.
I have a bunch of tv shows stockpiled at home, waiting for me to get round to it and watch them. This one’s among them (I only knew the plot, and it does sound intriguing). I guess I should add this to my to-do list for the summer…
4. be good tanyas – lovely version
bit stuck on the rest
1. Dunno, but I like it. The playing style hints at Skip McDonald, so… Little Axe?
2. No idea.
3. No idea.
4. I’ll take Maki‘s word for it.
5. No idea.
6. No idea. (Bit of a theme developing here!)
7. No idea. (Am I wasting my time here, Shoey?)
8. Nope. Struck out again.
9. Thought it Herman’s Hermits, but having double-checked on youtube, I now know it isn’t. Will keep schtum.
10. I’ll bow to AliM‘s superior knowledge.
11. Back to the blind stag.
12. *sigh* No idea.
Back to 12. for a wild guess: Black Keys?
13. I’m assuming Shane‘s right.
14. Still assuming Shane‘s right. Too tired to get off my arse and check.
15. Ooh, ooh, I know it . . . Yeah, right! Just kidding: clueless again.
16. And thus endeth my worst ever performance at a ‘Spill quiz.
Jeez, Shoey, you sure know how to make a guy feel like a musical chump!!!
Possibly too obscure to make a good quiz. Out of practice, it’s been a while. Nevermind, ‘Spill pints don’t come cheap: 1 each to Ali & Maki & 2 for Shane. Bag of ‘Spill pork scratchings to DsD for valliant effort.
nº2… I only know this song by Mano Negra (been listening to it a lot, recently). so, this is either a cover of them, or the other way round…
I’m watching the 1st series, albeit very slowly.
I’m at work therefore can’t listen to the tunes, but from the titles no.15 is a either the wu tang or el michels affair ….
I reckon you have a refined taste for black comedy, so I’m going to trust you on this, Shoey…. and I can buy the first season for £7, so I will. ‘Best TV since The Wire’ is quite a claim but all the punter reviews give it five stars, so maybe it is.
@Lambretinha. It’s a Mano cover. Have a cover.
@Al. Sorry, but thanks for playing.
