I found it a difficult album to listen to Blimpy – but not in a sense of hard subject matter – the self mutilation is not a music subject I want to indulge in – I could listen- but only if i didn’t have a distinct lack of connection to her and the songs. (It felt a lot like the Heroin Chic photo’s in fashion mag’s of the ’90′s to me…I understand – but I’m looking away)

    that’s taking nothing away from what she sings about and has gone through – I hope making the album has helped – but it’s not coupled with my experiences.

    • I’ve had one proper listen through and am now on my second. The first time Mrs McF described it as “Hole without the songs” but I think there’s more to it than that. I have read some EMA interviews since reading your comment, I hadn;t realised it’s all abusive relationships and “20 kisses with a butterfly knife” before that, and we all know what the logical end point of that is…yes…it’s “Pain Cave”…
