Having been wickedly accused of posting “weirdness” on here I decided that I might as well.
So I’ve been trawling down the back of the sofa and have come up with a few tracks from the left hand path , musically speaking.
I’ve chosen tracks that , I think, aren’t “trying” to be “weird”, I have plenty of those, these are songs that are odd for a number of reasons, subject matter, performance or just pure “out there”ness.
Endure !
I have virtually no information about these tracks so I’ll just list the titles so that you can all rush out and buy them for yourselves
1. Pickle – American Wind Symphony
2.Little Feet Be Careful- Sing with Marcy
3. Frozen Embryos- Three Guys from Hollywood
4. We Want to Fish for Men – Unknown Christian Pirate dudes ( may have posted this before but what the hey ! )
5. Wildwood Flower- Jimmie Riddle ( snigger !)
6. Mosquitoes Must Die- Tom Cleland
7. Now I’m in Love With Him- from “Princess Di. The Musical”
The final track is in “foreign” and chosen for the name of the singer ( it may sound familiar to some)
8. Lemon Tree- Sakura. ( Actually I do know a bit about this one. Sakura , often backed by The Quests, was a big star in Singapore and the Far East during the 1960s. She covered many Western Pop hits including Puppet on a String.)
As always don’t expect Hi-Fi quality. It’s the message not the medium that counts here.

That was really great Pairubu!!! I loved the way you put the pieces from the Radio between the tracks, it took sometime to work out what was a track and what was radio at first, but really great!
I think my favourite is Little feet be careful, I just thought it was really cute!
The funniest for me was Pickles!!!! I was literally lying on the floor laughing so much!!! In Japan if we want to imitate a western person speaking we say something like “pa pa pa pa pe pe pe po po po “
The section between Pickles and Little Feet was really frustration, but I finally identified the song in the background, I think, is The Weight by The Band… right?
Ok I understand the weirdness of the next few songs, but why is Now I’m in Love With Him- from “Princess Di. The Musical” It was maybe not the greatest show song I have heard, but I did not think it was weird…I am missing something with the words.
I really liked Lemon Tree by Sakura, but again I did not really see why it is weird? The language is Mandarin …but that would be normal if she was from Singapore and ethnic Chinese.
I really enjoyed it Pairubu!!! Thank you so much – it must have been difficult to put it all together.
It was great!!!
Well thanks for listening !
The “Lady Di” track is not weird but the thought of a musical dedicated to her is a little odd, perhaps.
The Sakura track isn’t weird either, really, but might sound a little strange to people who, like I used to, think that it’s only Britain and America that get to make “pop” music.
Not sure what the “in between” track is, I’m guessing it’s from the Ventures album talked about it the piece. I just took a selection from a CD I have of 1960s “promo” spots.
Glad you liked the Pickle poem, not sure where I found that one but it’s pickletastic !
I’m pleased you enjoyed the list. That means there are at least two of us that are crazy round here !
I’d've been up for some of this before the MFF, Pairubu, honest I would, butbutbut there’s this Guitar Solo thread, see, and …..
Seriously, will try to get to this as soon as poss.
Where can I find the animation sequences that must surely exist to accompany these aural oddities, pairubu? I’m not sure I would want to ever hear any of them ever again but, as a one-off, they’re rather fun. Apart from the Princess Di thing, which had me searching for my machine gun. (There’s now an opera based on the life of Anna Nicole-Smith, so one based on the life of thepeoplesprincess doesn’t seem odd at all, to me.)
Do you spend a lot of time listening to things like this, then? Without (self-)medication?
Sakura (up above) is correct: that is The Weight. Presumably an instrumental version by The Ventures.
Yes, I do spend time listening to this stuff. I may be beyond help. It’s quite addictive. I think the nadir was downloading and Brady Bunch bootleg.
I do listen to “normal” music too,on occasion.
I just love odd stuff I suppose.
