I LOVE this pic, shane!
thank you bishbosh –
it’s been making me smile working on it…
I do too!

Donning my orange monster costume and sneakers to symbolically commune with the Shane afterlife playlist.. the Ouija board starts to shake.. (it’s getting down to cachily crazy YACHT)… Villagers is madly eclectic, but appealing.. love the instrumental cacophony building in A Kingdom… (5 in playlist 1 doesn’t want to play)
Recall the Ed Harcourt from a previous theme; nice song… (now I have a live dog sleeping at the foot of my bed).. Mono is a suitably grand playout… can I bring things back down to earth now.. (time to go and make the Sunday morning pancakes for my tribe)
plenty of huggable orange fury monsters in my afterlife – welcome along.
(track five should play now – but questionable wether it’d suit your taste anyway!)
I really tried my best not to repeat – but I do love the odd sentiment in Dead dog – your pup looks fantastic, by the way- I had a look on the spill e-mailed photo – loveable)
Mono is brilliant did try to avoid obvious Heaven songs but this and the jokey OPM slipped in – I then confidently cmd-f ‘d it over on the mothership and Japanther has nabbed it already- typical.
pancakes with Karaocake, there’s an idea.
cheers for popping up.
Cheers shane.. I actually do quite like No. 5, btw.. reminds me of The Go-Betweens’ Don’t call me gone.
glad you enjoyed nilpferd – but some what saddened that you didn’t nominate all 60 songs from your triple album ‘ghosts’ CDs I sent you!
was tempted.. (but you don’t really need a ghostwriter on RR… )
Great pic, saneshane.
This is a very quirky playlist. I enjoyed it very much. Donds for the following:
Afterlife by Yacht. Was it influenced by Dekker’s The Israelites, I wonder? I thought I Saw the Dead by Villagers was so creepy. The instrumentation reminded me a little of early Genesis. My Most Meaningful Relationships Are With Dead People truly sent shivers down my spine for the funereal piano and wistful song. I’m a sucker for slide guitar and Salto Angel by Ruby Throat was just wonderful and ethereal – just gorgeous.
Thankyou.
thanks for listening SR – glad the tracks had their intended effects – thanks for the donds over on RR too.
Loads of Shane faves (think you missed Ghost off your RR WP list). Don’t recall seeing Trail of Dead in a Sanelist before? Is the Joan of Arc album any good? Mono is great, restores your faith in the post rock thing, that has become a little dull & new prog lately. Think I posted that one when we did imaginary places. You’re welcome. Newtome was Ruby Throat, which I liked so much I tracked down both albums. Cheers.
Sorry Shoey, didn’t mean to ignore you.
Baudelaire was the last…. Trail of Dead – that I tried to get in (poetry..I think) did you get ‘Tao Of The Dead’ when it was released?
Joan of Arc is ‘normal’ Joan of Arc really -I appreciate it, find the album totally interesting to listen to – but I wouldn’t know if I could recommend it… because I never ‘Love’ the albums- if you get my meaning.
Thanks for Mono – do love that! stole from you and hitching a ride on Panthers nomination of it – *hangs head in shame*
Ruby Throat -Queenadreena -Lalleshwari – I’m trying my best to find what I can on vinyl to update my katie jane Garside collection (means I don’t have much in MP3 format (( no time to convert))- and however much I love something – I find it really hard to pay for the same thing twice)
we need a few swaps again soon.
a few tunes in the box for you – to keep you going until ‘tracks on a CD’ gets posted as a theme – ONLY JOKING!
do you know ‘Thao’ think she might be my next search out obsession got the song ‘Eleven’ because it feat. tUnE-yArDs by Thao & Mirah then realised i had ‘Bag of Hammers’ – (Thao with The Get Down Stay Down) off a Kill Rock Stars Sampler from 2009.
(any advice if you know of her?)
just got the Thao & Mirah album – now, really must do some work!
Haven’t got the new one, do have “we brave bee stings” & “get better learn faster”
it seems I have all but the 3 songs:
Violet,
Yes, So On and So On,
Big Kid Table
from bee stings… I’ve been downloading today..
but nothing from ‘get better learn faster’
take what you want out the box and i will add some more later.
Cheers, won’t get to the super-computer til later, but will sling those for you when I get there.
