ANOTHER IN THE NEVER ENDING TRAIL OF PODCASTS!

Once you click on the ‘play’ arrow, this should all become fairly self evident, but I’ll take the opportunity to make a few excuses while I have the chance. Not sure at this stage why the volume on the first cut seems slightly low, everything was OK prior to the mix, so when Judy comes on, just bump the volume a bit. I think there’s a couple of factual errors in there but I missed ‘em at the time, free pints when next we meet if you spot ‘em. I was hoping to get about 17 cuts into this but the clock said ‘no’, bloody clock! So if you’re curious there’s a few unheard cuts that you’ll have to look for in the box, they’ll be mixed in with several cuts of each artist that I had on hand. I definitely need more practice with this plus I need to understand the software better so I might do another, though I’m not really sure that this is the right format for music, this may be OK for straight voice and maybe playlists should be used for music, but if we do another, perhaps reggae next time?
OK, thanks for listening…..GF.

  1. Really enjoyed this GF, thanks. You are obviously an old pro!

I always wondered whether you would have an American accent after being there all these years, I now know that the answer is……kind of! Can still hear a couple of those flat northern vowels though.

I really enjoyed all the music too, the most noticeable thing was that every track seemed to have a really strong narrative behind it, which is always appealing.
The Pointer Sisters track was a pleasant surprise and I loved the Martha Velez one too.

Just as a side note, a mate of mine from Kansas left a small number of records round my flat a couple of years ago for a month or two, one of them being a Roches album. I fell for it at the time and spent quite a bit of time with it….but he took it back! It was his I suppose!

Look forward to the reggae one next!

  2. Panther, thanks for your participation. Not so sure about the old pro though. The accent is odd, as we’ve discussed here earlier I started out with a very heavy Yorkshire accent but I left there when I was 12 and lived all over the UK and here so it’s been evolving ever since, I’m only conscious of it when I talk to mics. Lots of Americans over the years have puzzled over it thinking that I was Australian? If you pursue the Roches let me suggest you get their first album, titled ‘Roches’, a great first album, subsequent ones were not so good.

  3. Absolutely brilliant podcast GF. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it and am on my second time through. So many quality songs, it’s mindboggling.

I think I may have underestimated Joan Armatrading.
