It takes three legs to make a tripod or to make a table stand,
And it takes three years to make a blog called the ‘spill
And every triangle has three corners,
Every triangle has three sides,
No more, no less,
You don’t have to guess
That it’s three
Can’t you see?
It’s a magic number…

Yeah, but, . . . it takes a genius to design a tripod.
Happy birthday to nous!
Courtesy of vous!!
You should see my new tripod -it’s amazing! I’ve been meaning to post a picture of it, but it’s hard when the camera is on it.
happy birthday to the ‘spill – yeah!
Hey I’ve been here for half its life now! Happy birthday to us all!
Happy birthday to us all!
How awesome is that song though?
Cor, yeah. Happy birthday, us.
WEEEEEE are THRREEEE?
Well done us!
Three’s company – some company! Many happy returns to us all – and hip hip hurrah for our webmeister…
3 years already? time only flies when you’re having fun!
Happy birthday ‘Spill!
Happy Birthday, you beautiful old ‘Spill, you!
Hey, Steen, I immediately thought of that song too. Long may we ‘Spill!
But that’s the track I posted!!!!!
I know, Blimpy. I just wanted to share this cartoon from my childhood.
Sorry, Blimpy, my bad – crawled in from work and just scrolled down. Thank you for bringing us all together, o Macblimpmeister!
I never realised the song was so well known, until now I’d thought it was off some obscure maths based LP from the 60s!
Well, it’s just fashinating, completely fashinating… I didn’t know which came first, the song or the series, but apparently they were born at the same time!!
“Three Is a Magic Number” is the pilot episode of the Schoolhouse Rock! series and the first episode of the program’s first season, “Multiplication Rock.”[1] It is featured on the 30th Anniversary DVD and the Multiplication Rock video compilations. The title song was composed and performed in 1973 by Bob Dorough, musical director of the series, with the episode’s first airing coming that same year. The song and video describe multiples of three. The song is exactly three minutes long. (wiki)
Hmmm, who knew??
Blimpy, you might like the rest of the Schoolhouse Rock! cartoons (and Brodie might, too). Other people have covered them, as I recently learned with Catcher’s nom of Pavement’s No More Royalty. (I think that’s the right name)
Anyway…no american over the age of … hmmm, 30, maybe? can be unaware of Schoolhouse Rock. I never even watched TV as a youngster, and they’re all familiar to me.
Dorian playlisted “3 is a magic number” for songs about numbers, though I was peeved when he dissed Sesame Street in his article, because I’d posted this numerically superior clip from the show..
Happy ‘Spilliversary, ‘Spillers.
Yeah, long may we Spill!
I know everybody knows about this, but I can’t not post it, because it’s so brilliant…

Why did that not work?

Happy Birthday, Spill and Spillers, and many thanks to the Blimpster for getting and keeping it rolling!
However, I’m an american well over 30, and am not terribly aware of Schoolhouse Rock. If it was something to do with Sesame Street, i have never watched an entire episode of it! (Was more into Batman and Ultraman for after school tv.)
So can i add an alternate?
Sorry to sort of speak for you, Amy. It wasn’t anything to do with sesame street…I’ve never watched a full episode, either, and I’ve got little ones! I think it was more of the way it weaseled it’s way into popular culture. Don’t know, though.
Oh, i wasn’t sniping! It’s more laughing, because everyone basically watched Sesame Street or Schoolhouse Rock, but i was definitely one of the odd ones out! And my mom was a kindergarden and grade school teacher too. So i am totally blank on most of the references others take for granted.
