Bored by pearl, I’ve always loved swine.
This should have been sent as an Earworm, . . . but it’s so close to New Year, I’m sending it as a Happy New Earworm. And in particular because Johny Brown’s Band Of Holy Joy are playing The Bull and Gate in Kentish Town on the 7th January and anyone correctly identifying me and carrying a rolled up copy of The Spill will receive a kiss on the cheeks of their choosing and a half of shandy.
To a savage joy, I am that way inclined.

I like this – how many false endings?
The formula is ‘crescendo = x + bigmusic denouement’
I’ve gone a bit mad for the album, ‘Paramour”, in recent weeks, which is why I’ve been keeping a low profile.
I’m sure you’ll like Inga’s other video, ‘I Keep Diamonds Too’
How weird – I found “Positively Spooked” (a favourite from my adolescence) on iTunes earlier this year and have been meaning to submit something from it as an earworm for months. I’ve got the “Love Never Fails” album from a few years back but didn’t realise they had an album out this year. Thanks for the alert – this is lovely.
I love coincidences, the spookier the better. ‘Paramour’ is on Spotify and the gig on the 7th marks the release of a new single ‘Oh What A Thing This Heart Of Man’.

Lovely it is! Very sorry i have to miss the kiss though.
Awww, kiss sent across the ether anyway and as a Reiki master, can also give your aura a centre parting anywhere across 5 time zones.
The night this coming Friday is part of ‘Pandamonium’, a celebration of 17 years of Fierce Panda Records, featuring 17 bands across the week, starting on Tuesday.

Supporting BOHJ are Bittersprings (Last Party/Subway Sect) and Andrew Clarke.
I got it! And as rumor has it that you’re a tall guy, (and i’m a shorty), it landed smack on my upper cheek (the one next to my nose), where it was supposed to.
Didn’t know you were a Reiki master, but you must be a good one to know that my aura is badly in need of a tune up. (It’s probably showing black right now.)
BOHJ would be a nice gig to revisit. Johny Brown seemed to haunt my steps from 1985-88 when I was a student in New Cross. He would turn up at gig after gig I was at – it seemed we shared exactly the same taste. I was particularly surprised (although I dont know why) when I saw him at almost every Lone Justice gig I attended. He was so striking looking in those days – looking exactly like Brecht (does he still?). He was also clearly trying for something different with his own music which I always prick my ears up for. I had high hopes for BOHJ even before I heard one note of their music, thanks to the breathless reviews they received. Perhaps its time I checked out one of their current gigs for myself.
I’ve added the promo for the gig, above. Yeah Brecht with a floppy fringe, dead on
I’ll tell him you were asking after him.
This just in, Band Of Holy Joy were wholly joyous at The Bull and Gate last night, good turn out and excellent high energy set.
The new single Oh What a Thing This Heart of Man comes highly recommended, it’s a download only and available since yesterday from all the usual places including itunes

Yeah, I was at the gig. It was truly superb, and the new music, including ‘Oh What A Thing….’ is, to my mind, some of the best they’ve ever done. A cover of Lindisfarne’s ‘Meet Me On The Corner’ seemed an odd choice, but Johny put so much passion and yearning into it, there’s a sense of desperation the original, cloaked in TOTP folk-lite, never had.
They’re off to Greece next month to foment a revolution of passion amongst the dispossessd. Lucky bleeders!
Cheers Wayne, I agree about the Lindesfarne cover that was so sweetly done. And you’re right, I think the Greeks are ripe for a bit of ‘I Say We Strike Out Now’ … heehee, love to be there for that!
