Thanks

One of the things that I am most enjoying about doing the earworms is that you all send me stuff by artists I was unaware of or at least hadn’t paid enough attention to. This is great because it sends me scurrying around on line and I end up finding other gems that make my musical life just that little bit better than it already became after joining the ‘Spill. Here are a few random songs that I didn’t know or had almost forgotten before you pointed me in the direction of these artists. Thanks to you all!

TY sent in Fred Neil’s Dolphins. And now I can’t get this one out of my head. Simple, short and just perfect.

WB stated the case for Precious Bryant’s less than perfect vocals and this charms my less than perfect ears!

DsD never fails to surprise me and his King Creosote contribution a few weeks back just served to remind me how much I love this from last year’s festive list.

Professor Abahachi channeled panthersan‘s indie sensibilities in our direction and I’ve found that some coasts are indeed better than others.

Steenbeck did what she does best which is remind you just how good things can be and why you should just get on with enjoying them. Thanks, steen.

Oh, and I could go on and on! All I really wanted to say was thanks to Tin for handing the earworms series over to me. I was flattered when it happened and have been thrilled by your response since then. But it’s a little more than that. I know a lot of you enjoy the series. Can you imagine just how much fun I have actually putting it together? I get to hear them all first! And GF, I will never be able to thank you enough for your enthusiasm and the quality of your contributions. Never.
Magic, Ali, Bish, Tfd, Webcore, Barbryn, Ejaydee, Bethnoir, Mitch, Gremlin, Tin, BP, Marco, Lambre, Fintan, Nilpferd, CaroleB, Amy, RollinDanny, Severin , Panthersan and you, yes you, Blimpy thank you for your contributions!! Please keep ‘em coming!

  1. Just echoing Steen’s sentiments – you’re doing such a great job, maki. And it’s so gratifying for us to know that you’re enjoying it too! Keep up the good work. Will send you another one from my vaults in the next week or two…

  2. Yes, I love Earworms. I don’t get enough time to post much these days, what with being away all week in Denmark, working too late for chilling at the ‘Spill as often as I’d like, the hotel bandwidth isn’t good enough for streaming music anyway.

Keep it going Maki. I will send you a new earworm soon.

  3. Yes, Earworms definitely becoming as indispensable as the MFF!

Not sure I can cope with the pressure heaped on by the praise aimed my way for “surprising and delighting”, but Maki has my next two earworms already wriggling in the can.

Keep up the good work everyone.

  4. Maki; I always find something new and interesting, today’s is Steen’s Cure cut, I’d never heard it before, I think it’s great, just spent half an hour at youtube listening to alternate versions. I recorded it with an idea of using it as the audio for a film.
And, as others have said, all thanks to Tinny for starting this and to you for picking up the reins and thanks for your kind words.

  5. Echoing everyone else – Thank you, Maki! (And Tin for getting it started). I just made it onto the Spill today and head reeling from all of the posts to catch up on. Which i won’t, as i never seem to have enough time to, but the Earworms are one feature I try not to miss each week, even if i don’t always get to make articulate comments.

  6. My thanks to you all! I mean that. The earworms gig is a good one!

Thanks ejay for the Fred Neil link – he’s someone I’m just discovering. I was listening to him in the car the other day and Conchita asked “Who’s that? I love his voice”. I think there are two new FN fans chez Maki!
