Listening to the 5 Royales now, you’re right, James Brown more than owns it.
Track 5 should work, agree about the infectious nature of Wednesday night, at his best, Mingus’ beefy tunes give me a kick up the arse.

Joseph Kabasele for me – infectious beautiful stuff. Saw the remains of TPOK Jazz play it live last year in Brighton. Marvellous.
1960 was a very good year! Loved all of these. Smooth segue on the Cha cha cha from Fendermen (which was unexpectedly wild in the middle!) to L’African Jazz.
