Warpaint mailed me today about their new (heavy on the diffusion) video, seems like kids today are listening to Fleetwood Mac, cribbing from Nirvana and making something really quite listenable with it all.

I liked this a real lot Blimpy and I think your choice of categories sum it up perfectly!
Will see if I can find some more of their stuff online……..
Let me know how you get on, I believe their album is out very soon.
The version on the video seems to be an edit, I’m listening one on hypem that has another minute & a half! Very catchy so it is, I had to listen to something to dislodge Phil Collin’s Easy Lover after I heard it in the newsy on the way to work this morning!!
I had a cover of ashes to ashes – but it didn’t do much for me – but I loved the track Elephants.
rough trade had this as a download (undertow – don’t know if still valid) – for the price of your soul (or e-mail):

rcrd lbl have the tracks ‘Elephants’ (ACE) and ‘Billy Holiday’ (chilled My Girl/Guy):

I didn’t think much of many of the covers on the Bowie tribute record (tis on Spotify) – I think it’s fine to be influenced by & steal from Bowie, but he’s a hard man to cover well.
as I said somewhere in the last couple of days – Mr.Bowie played at my Dads best mans 21st Birthday party – before he was famous.
my old mans critique is the always worth repeating :
“might make it as a guitarist, never going to amount to anything with that singing”
He sounds unique so any cover has to be a complete deconstruction – other wise it’s just a pale: not Bowie.
I appear to have found their album on the internets….
shhhh – me too.
