News from Manuel Goettsching

I really enjoyed a wonderful live concert by Manuel Goettsching at La Géode in  Paris this summer. After having listened to his music for years and been inspired by the incredible sounds he coaxes from his guitar, it was fascinating to see him programming his music like a science professor peering at an experiment and then pick up the guitar and take flight…

The big news is, he’s playing in Great Britain for the first time in over 10 years this winter. His next solo concert will take place on the 11th of December in Glasgow at STEREO. I’ll certainly try and make it so I can go and see my folks at the same time.

Here’s an extract of his concert at La Géode and you can get more details of the Glasgow gig on his website: http://www.ashra.com  I hope to catch up with some of you in Glasgae…

  1. Reminded me of my youth

He must be a big boy by now..

(Sorry Ali, but I can never resist setups for Groucho Marx quotes)

Have fun at the concert, FP…

  2. I’m not familiar with this name but I thought he sounded great, first name that came to mind was Carlos Santana from many years ago. Does he perform alone using electronic digital loops or are there other musicians involved?

  3. Ah, as much as I’d love to get to that, fp, it’s just not going to happen, unfortunately.

Did I ever tell you I’d returned the holiday DVD compliment? At 5seconds per photo, our Florida holiday pics disc runs to just around 58 minutes. Now what piece of music do I own (appropriate to mentioning here) that lasts that long? Hmmm?

    Cheers.

  4. Glad you’re liking Manuel! GF : When I saw him he did use electronic loops but he has just performed inventions for electric guitar in Japan with other notable guitarists and has worked with string ensembles too. Depends on the piece. An all round performer and great bloke too. Who likes peas.
