George David Weiss, joint composer of, amongst other classics, What a Wonderful World, has died aged 89. Sometimes it’s only when they disappear that you realise how much you liked things they had a hand in creating.
Here are a few he “had a hand in”.
RIP George. To my shame (ish), I’d never heard ‘Lullaby of Birdland’ before – lovely.
Sarah Vaughn’s version, with Clifford Brown on trumpet, is even better…
People seem to have forgotten his musical collaborator Ben Weisman.
Brilliant Maki, I like Ella and have to agree with Abahachi :
This swings!
