In true Maki style (ie. about three months late) I thought I’d just let those of you who are interested know that my favourite Spanish hip hop artist, La Mala Rodríguez, released “Dirty Bailarina” in April. It’s not as ballsy as Alevosía and she seems to have more of a groove thing going on this time around but I like it. Here’s a couple or three more tracks – one a duet with Estrella Morente.

I like the YouTube track, Maki. The cover art is intriguing as well. I’ve got to put the boys to bed, but I’m looking forward to hearing more.
It’s more singing than hip hop, so far, no? I kinda like it when hip hop artists sing, though, and she has a great voice.
I like it!
Thanks for sharing with the class.
Thanks, steenbeck. She’s come in for a bit of stick for the singing – not so much for her voice, which, like you, I think is great, but for the change of direction. The album lacks the immediacy of earlier releases, it’s true, but I think it works.
