BUMP!

Like the McFlah family we now know that bump #2 is a boy – I’m not going to play naming games as the control freakery would do my head in..
..but it is a chance to add another playlist, hopefully one that doesn’t put off the non-family orientated- and adds some extra very North tunes.
Kids - The Concretes
I Can’t Tell In His Eyes - Wildbirds & Peacedrums
Little Kids - Kings Of Convenience
D(Darren Emerson’s Underwater Remix) - GusGus
Cry Baby (Röyksopp’s Målselves Memorabilia) - Spiller
Why I Like Babies - Butcher Boy

  1. You had to tie her down?

Many congrats to family Shane! Won’t be long before we are outnumbered by the next generation of ‘Spillers.

    • the last few nights has been better actually.. but it’s been so much worse this time, fine during the day but ill as soon as she comes home (and sees me?) sleeping and being sick for the last 3 months has taken it’s toll.. fingers crossed it keeps improving.

Tuesday was great.. got z-boy out of school to come and see the scan, so he could be part of it, really bouncing to see he had a little brother.. then we went to see Mick Jones – The Rock & Roll Public Library and played in the empty playgrounds… how much fun can you have when you should be a school/work.

  2. Congrats Shane!

I actually bought “React Or Die” recently – have been vaguely looking for an opportunity to squeeze a Butcher Boy track in somewhere Spillish. Lovely song. (Will investigate the rest of the playlist anon.)

  3. Congrats from me too, Shane. Hope the missus feels better soon, and can get in some good ol’fashioned blooming before the big day.

    • Rich – I did a double take on Tuesday.. realizing I wouldn’t have to go on e-bay, because we have saved or lent out all of z-boys stuff over the last five years, and can reel it all back in.. your explanation of user name ‘DsD’ has stayed with me from the start.

  4. I love that “X-Boy” at the top of the scan picture – seems he’s got his cool superhero name sorted out already – congratulations Shane!

  5. Congratulations, Shane family. Is it really control freaky to be thinking of names? Hope Mrs Shane shakes the sickness soon. And don’t try saying THAT in a hurry.

  6. the control freakery is other people suggesting names – - we will have enough opinions between the two/three of us… Z-boy thinks ‘Bounce’ is cool… so the less ideas the better really!

    • I have it too, but don’t remember sharing it, so maybe it’s one of those things like how the wheel was invented in different places or around the same time. Does yours mention Martini & Jopparelli ‘s Music Selections in the comments?

      • Yes! What does that mean?

It’s oddly labeled in my itunes, which usually means I got it from a spiller or from a sample set or something similar.

      • I have 3 other songs with the same comment added to my library at the same time. Apparently it’s from this blog
        http://music-selections.com/

By the way, I wore my owl T-shirt last weekend and I got a lot of compliments, especially from my illustrator of an uncle, it was gushing.

      • That blog is a treasure trove! Some wonderful stuff on there. I foresee many wasted hours…

Thanks for the owl news. Maybe Malcolm and I should write a children’s book together, and make that the main character. We’ve already started on the merchandising.

      • The M&J blog is awesome. Huge nostalgia trip for me here- scroll down a bit and there’s a reference to a Brubeck/Mulligan/Desmond album called We’re all together again (for the first time): I wore out my local library’s copy over 20 yrs ago with repeated listens to the awesome version of Take Five, which has a kickass drum solo by Alan Dawson. (Seeing as we once discussed the relative merits of Take Five drum solos) It’s on spotify, solo gets going around 9:30. Practise your air drumming.

      • Boom woosh brrrrap tsss, that drum solo is something else! The whole performance has so much energy.

  7. Really lovely pic! My friend had to have the mucal fold (?) scan done twice as the first time the baby was doing jazz hands and wriggling around too much. Naturally with the jazz hands we have now nick-named it Kurt, after too much Glee! Babies everywhere at the mo, it’s lovely to see everything going well xxx

  8. Just stopping by to agree with Tracy (on the babies everywgere/lovely front, as opposed to the jazz hands)!
