I thought it had been a while since I had done a Podcast and I had some time on my hands, so here is the latest installment. (For any new folks, the Podcast is called 30 Minutes Over Tokyo and usually has a theme.)
The idea was to have a (semi-)random selection, the problem with being random is that it tends to produce tracks which don’t really fit together, so it doesn’t quite work as a whole Podcast and it ended up not being particularly representative of the broad spectrum of my record collection……but hey! I had fun making it and there are some good (if mostly noisy) tunes to enjoy here anyway!

That’s a first ‘Spill mention for Anal Nathrak!!! Yikes!
This is totally fab!
I hate it when big headed women smoke my dope! The blighters!!
There’s a COS curated exhibition coming to me neck of the woods in June, I will check it out and report back!
Oh no – was that a spoiler? I’ll fix it!!!!
Love the tunes!!
Yippee! Looking forward to a listen later on this rainy day.
cheers Blimpo! Lucky I didn’t PLAY Anaal Nathrakh…..my iTunes shows 5 albums worth from them, but alas no vinyl……
that was ace.. the record company of CoS deleted all my spill post once (when we were uploading on boxtr) bastards!! love the fact that peaches has trouble spelling her chosen name out.
fantastic.
all tunes could have carried on longer (even the free jazz) – do believe if you ventured too much harder I would struggle – the mood was spot on for a volatile bank holiday.
Hope Maritally you are in a better frame of mind – I worry when you mention such things – maybe it’s just like your taste in music – the intensity boils over on occasions.
cheers for that – doubleplusgood me thinks.
cheers Shane, thanks for listening….I DID try to steer it away from the noisy stuff, and if the hand had been a few centimetres off either way, it would have been an entirely different playlist……
…and thanks for your concern, i’m sure everything will turn out fine and dandy in the end….maybe!…….but hey, life is a rollercoaster, just gotta ride it, right? as a wise Irishman once said…….
interesting philosopher.. you choose- he he.
I like the way you didn’t cheat – and noise prevailed – even though no one could see you pick the tunes.
panthersan for PM –
the honesty party (with a noisy soundtrack)
Catching up – about half way through & enjoying it all so far – great to hear COS again (despite the boycott).
Anonymous of Hamburg donding shane!
No, I was anonymous (why does wp unlog you for no good reason?)
Drat…I listened to 10 minutes of this yesterday and loved it. (That first song is a hoot!) you have such a nice balance of conversational style and articulate-observations-worth-listening-to. A lesson to all apprentice podcasters – well that’s just me, I guess. Looking for a quiet patch to listen to the rest.
Brilliant stuff; I was singing along to ‘Free Jazz’, obviously, but the rest of the tracks were new to me apart from COS, which I haven’t heard for years. I now have yet another idea for a podcast, along with Steen’s ‘that was the year that was’ approach, a run-down of all my A-listers (which I have been saving until I get the final nomination to make the score, but may have to bring forward as there seems to be no hope whatsoever of me getting another one under the current management), and an entire podcast of ‘listen without prejudice, but probably a fair degree of embarrassment’. And no time at all, of course.
I *must* have heard ‘New Rose’ at some point, but no actual recollection.
Great podcast, as usual, panthersan, although I can’t help feeling that it lacks something – can’t quite put my finger on what though.
I didn’t think it was too noisy at all, although you did lose me in the free jazz section….
aww….thanks all, nice comments make it all worthwhile! and glad I managed to attract my partner in crime back to the Spill.
That Speed, Glue and Shinki track seems to have gone down well….the whole album is ace….Hmmm…..are we still allowed to do Album Of The Week??
Come on Aba, it’s been too long between Radio Abahachi’s!!
I agree – I was listening to the first radio Abahachi on the bus on Monday and lovin it
Great stuff PantherSan. An inspiration. Time to get to work on the MakiCast. I’ll do my best to keep the Business English listening exercises out of it as well!!! They are cringe-making, aren’t they?
Finally heard the whole thing. I really enjoyed it. Nice mix of music. I had a splitting headache this morning, and may have sped through some of the noisier stuff, but I can imagine liking it ALL with more time to listen. Isaac thought the Damned and Teenage Fan Club were ‘Awesome.’
Who is this last song by? I must not have been paying attention. It’s nice.
thanks Steen. The last track was by Dakota Oak Trio, they are on Twisted Nerve records and make very nice twinkling electronica/indie, it’s well worth seeking out some of their stuff.
@Maki – looking forward to the inaugural Makicast!
oh….forgot to say…..
@Isaac – you rock!!
